Can i install secondary glazing on victorian bay windows ?

Residential secondary glazing installation in South west London.

A very common window style amongst Victorian properties across London is the 3 piece bay, However these single paned windows can sometimes be poor insulators of heat and sound. Our reversed secondary glazing frames mean we can directly fix them to the facia of the windows even when there is no window recess to sit the secondary glazing on.

installing secondary glazing creates a completely air tight environment in front of your existing windows, meaning sound and cold draught get trapped on the exterior side of the glass and does not permeate into the room.

Our solution was carefully tailored considering cost and practicality.

Our Secondary Glazing

As the two side panels were not used for access we installed lift out units to minimise the overall cost, the centre panel consists of a counter balanced sash window providing access to the original sash top and bottom opening panels.

As sound proofing was the main reason for the requirement of the secondary glazing we used a specialist 6.4mm Laminated acoustic Glasss.

after we completed the installation we compared the difference the windows made, leaving the secondary glazing open as cars drove past we were able to grasp how much noise our client was experiencing prior to the installation, after closing the secondary glazing window panes the sound of the passing traffic was dramatically decreased ! if you weren’t looking out of the window you wouldn’t even notice when traffic was passing by !

Our Client was extremely pleased with the finished installation and admitted it actually blocks out more noise than what he actually expected !
